Okay, so Elisan has always been peculiar about what she eats and how she eats. She's a neat eater, always has been. But, she's developed an eating habit that NO ONE in our (immediate) family shares. And, it's gotten worse.
She does not like her food to touch on her plate.
So, time to 'fess up. Are you a "my-food-can't-touch-on-my-plate" kind of person? AND, if so... please enlighten the rest of us.
I'll admit. Her little oddity is driving me crazy! Especially as I'm trying to dish out dinner.
So, I bought her a divided plate today while I was at HEB. I'm probably just fostering her weirdness... but at least her food won't touch!
I am! It bothers me to mix tastes, same reason I don't like many sauces. No worries- the divided plate is nice!
ReplyDeleteI am with you except I do not like ketchup or ranch dressing to touch my other things, at least if I ate those things. I would prefer my salad dressing not touch my meat sometimes. I am digging the Asian sesame dressing BTW.
ReplyDeleteI like to eat oranges but not if they get wet from being peeled or by being mixed in fruit salads. Then they are soggy and I will only eat them if starving and the other option is a bug.
ReplyDeleteI'm definitely in the camp of "my food can't touch", and have been for as long as I can remember. When John and I dated, and discovered he was the same way, we had fancy divider plates at our wedding. Those who really knew us, thought it was hilarious. Of course, Nick has gotten this trait too.
ReplyDeleteI'm not that picky, but my mom was as a girl and always tell about how she'd build "dams" with pieces of white bread! She probably would've killed for a divided plate !!!
ReplyDeleteThat's funny. My kids are the same and they are 6 and 7. The divided plates work great. I keep thinking I want to just use regular plates, but then they gripe about things touching. It's a battle I chose not to fight =o)
ReplyDeleteMy DD never cared in fact she could eat things just fine even it they were piled on top of eachother but Elias is fussy about it too. I think it is just another phase you will have to llive though. At least she is eating! =0)
ReplyDeleteI am just coming upon this post..but since I have such a strong opinion I thought id' offer a comment. I am very much in the "my food can NOT touch" category. Have been all my life. I actually find it hard to eat certain things because the ingredients are all touching. Shepard's pie, fruit salad, veggies in chinese food, absolutely NO ice cream on my cake, or meat touching any kind of side item. All render me unable to consume it. The only exception is mashed potatoes which I can have lap onto my chicken fried steak. But that is really a Texas thing and the only exception. I loved divided plates and only wish that you were not looked at like a freak for using them as an adult.
ReplyDeletewhere did you buy these? what is HEB? how much each? what are they made out of?
