25 Days of Christmas Blogging Challenge

Tomorrow begins my annual 25 Days of Christmas Blogging Challenge. So, join in the fun!

I will be blogging everyday until Christmas, starting December 1st. I will begin posting something (ANYTHING!) each day until December 25th...a commentary, a joke, a picture, whatever! Just something everyday until Christmas day.

I began the "25 Days of Christmas Blogging Challenge" back in 2007 and it's been a lot of fun for me. Some days... a true challenge... but interesting nonetheless!

It's Crafty!

So, over the weekend, while we were at the Alamodome for the marathon festivities, I came upon a retail booth with a gazillion women swarming around it. The booth was selling Sweaty Bands, which is a no-slip headband.
I got up close and personal to the headband and decided that I'd rather make one than buy one for $18.00. You know me...

So, off to Hobby Lobby I went. I purchased 2 rolls of velvet ribbon (3/4 inch and 1.5 inch), 2 rolls of ribbon (in corresponding sizes) and a package of elastic. (Total score... the ribbon was 1/2 off! I paid less than $8.00 for everything.)

I measured around our heads to get an estimate for size, pinned the two pieces together and sewed the edges. And, because the ribbon is polyester, I heat sealed the ribbon ends so they would not fray. This also allowed me to not have to hem the ribbon ends. I tucked in a piece of elastic, sewed it across the short ends of the ribbons and that's it! So stinkin' easy!

And, they really do not slip! I made one for me as well and I wore it at the gym with no complaints at all! After a while, I forgot I was even wearing it!

I ended up making 8 of these headbands last night! So, as my I'm-so-excited-I-have-to-share-in-my-joy-gift-to-you, I'm giving away this non-slip headband! It's 1.5 inches wide - in a nice adult ribbon style. So, leave a comment and I'll draw a winner in a couple of days.

This is a dump!

Y'all, my well intentioned re-cap entry has gone to the wayside. I know, you aren't surprised. I seem to rely on the dump more and more. That's okay by me...

So, here goes!

We visited my brother and family in San Antonio over the weekend and it was fun to see them. The girls love Tim and Christi and their cousins, Brandon and Brady. We're always sure to have a great time, laughing and catching up.

On Saturday, we picked up Randy's runner's packet at the Alamodome. There were tons of people there and it was exciting to see all of the people gearing up for the marathon. It actually made me sad that I wasn't running... sort've!

Randy ran his first 1/2 marathon on Sunday. He his goal time and I think... I THINK!... he actually had a great time! But, I don't want to put words in his mouth! (Speaking of mouth... don't ya love this picture?!)

As I mentioned we had plenty of laughs over the weekend. One of our biggest laughing moments was this. It's called "Fat App" on the iPod and let me tell you... I nearly wet my pants with all of the fat pictures we took. Oh my! My brother posted his picture on Facebook mentioning the fact that he didn't know he was allergic to 'Arabian Peanuts'. It was hilarious! I'd show you my fat app picture but... well... No. Probably not.

So, that was my weekend.

I've been working on some crafts and I'll be showing y'all what I've been up to lately in another post. I'll also have a fun Christmas special for personalized stationery! Yay!

And finally, I leave you with this. You may have already seen this, but it's worth another look. So stinkin' cute and funny!

Where art thou?

Oh me, oh my! Randy has been on vacation the last two weeks before he starts his new job and I have to admit, I haven't had time to blog about my world.

This weekend proves to be busy with 2 soccer games, a family trip to San Antonio to visit my brother and his family and Randy's first 1/2 marathon! Hoping to have some pictures to post on Monday or Tuesday (...or Wednesday).

I'm sure I have a lot to catch up on, but at 6:15 a.m. on a Saturday (which is insane and should be illegal) my brain is not fully functioning.

What's wrong with this picture? Installment #2

Take a look at this picture!
{Gasp!} It might make kids want to ride in the back of a pick up truck! Heaven forbid!

Goodness knows, I rode in the back of my dad's pick up truck every available chance... AND...on the wheel well!

Those were the days...

Gotta Love It!

I love this video clip from the San Francisco Giants game in October. It's no secret I'm a huge Journey fan... circa Steve Perry days. Here's Steve Perry in the crowd singing to his own song. LOVE IT!

Proud Mama!

I'm such a proud mama right now. I'm just going to unabashedly brag on my daughter. It's my blog and I can do whatever I want!

During chapel yesterday, the school recognized all of the kids who got all A's on their 9 week report cards. Elisan said that she was the only kid in her class who got all A's and only 1 of 2 kids who got all A's in all of 4th grade! All of that hard work has paid off.

Let me say... 4th grade has been hard this year... for her and for me! The homework has doubled from 3rd grade and it's been a bit overwhelming to say the least. Her teacher mentioned in our conference last week that in 4th grade they begin to "apply" all of the skills they've learned in 1st, 2nd and 3rd, so the work that they do is more challenging.

And to top it all of...straight A's on top of accelerated "Discovery" classes in math, reading and science, in addition to 1.5 hour long soccer practices 2x a week!

Elisan we are so proud of you! You worked so hard this last 9 weeks and we are excited about your accomplishment.
